Lickey Incline pictures by D J Norton
D J Norton - Dennis John Norton - was born in Birmingham in 1930, he suffered ill health throughout his life and sadly it was cut short by an asthma attack at the age of 35 in Ledbury, Herefordshire. He had moved there with his young family hoping that a country location might help alleviate the symptoms of his illness. He left his widow with a son aged 4 and expecting a baby who was born 9 weeks later and named Mark
Mark Norton has developed many interests that were similar to his father's including photography. Mark found several hundred black and white photographs taken by his father in the 1950s and 1960s plus many colour slides from the same period.
Mark has now made these available on an excellent web site at http://www.photobydjnorton.com/ where there are many splendid pictures of steam locomotive working on the Lickey Incline including Big Bertha, the Midland Railway 0-10-0 as well as pictures of other railway and transport subjects around Birmingham and the West Midlands.
